I don't think this is a super ugly dress, but I was pretty disappointed when I first saw it. I had always hoped and hoped for a bridesmaid dress like that in her short story, Samantha Saves the Wedding. That pink dress is so gorgeous; why did AG go and change it?

Ah well, I guess complaining about it won't do any good. But if I could sew, the short story bridesmaid dress would definitely be on the top of my "to do" list!

I agree, on every point, Judi!

I bought this dress on ebay, awhile ago. I think that it's much closer in style to the movie bridesmaid dress than the AG version is. Someday I want to use it as a pattern, to make my own version of the bridesmaid dress--or ask someone else to make it.

All it needs is different fabric, a skirt that's a little longer, another ruffle at the neckline, and ruffles at the bottom......

I agree about the bridesmaid dress in the short-story book. That one was my favorite one of all of them! I wanted that one to be the movie one so badly!

I also agree about the hat. I think that instead of a material full of holes (which seems more modern to me), they should've used material like that that they used for the travel hat, and then just covered it with netting, like the hat in the movie.

    AG are you listening?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Lol, nah, I just think that most brides are well intentioned and pick something that seems pretty and uniform and sweet for their wedding. Unfortunately, pretty and uniform and sweet is normally dated in about ten minutes Like my mom's bridesmaid dresses, for example, her bridesmaids actually loved them, and they still talk about them. I don't know what they liked. I've seen the pictures, and YUCK. I don't think its remotely intentional, but its a guarantee one way or the other, lol.

Joy - that neckline would be very, very nice for a bridesmaid dress. Great idea!

I know I'm completely alone in this, but it's one of my very favorites!

ETA: the first time my mom saw the dress she said, "Awwwwww!!! It's so ugly it's adorable! You have to get it!"

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">NO! Your not the only one who likes it! I LOVE it!!! I think it's very pretty! Partly because I LOVE the color purple!! & also like the style of the dress. But I do agree that I wish they din't have the bodice go so far to the side, but I can deal with that!!!!!
